Dornfelder is a native German red grape variety that Weingut Keber Kolling deliberately selects for its organic vineyards: it thrives in a variety of soils and, when grown at low yields, produces particularly lovely, exotic aromas and a fresh acidity. The estate employs targeted yield reduction to get the very best out of the variety.
Vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. In the glass, the Dornfelder displays its typical, radiant ruby-red colour. The nose is rich and exotic: dark red fruit, a hint of spices and a fresh undertone. On the palate, it is fruity with mild tannins, fresh acidity and a pleasantly light body.
An approachable red wine that pairs effortlessly with food. It goes well with pizza and pasta with tomato sauce, grilled poultry or a simple platter of cold meats and cheeses. Serving it slightly cooler, at around 14°C, brings out its fresh, fruity character to the full, making it a pleasant accompaniment to lighter meals too. Serve at 14–16°C.
