The Spätburgunder is the ruby among Weingut Keber Kolling’s red wines. Pinot Noir is the queen of red grapes and also thrives on the Nahe, on the varied soils of Sommerloch. The estate crafts it into a dry, elegant red wine with good ageing potential.
In the glass, the Spätburgunder sparkles with a bright, ruby-red colour. The nose is reminiscent of strawberries and juicy cherries, with floral notes and a subtle, light spiciness. On the palate, it is elegant and pleasant, with fresh acidity, soft tannins and good length.
A fine red wine for moments that matter. It pairs excellently with poultry, light meat dishes and mushroom dishes, but is also a delightful choice with a selection of mature soft cheeses. Those who keep it for a little longer will find that it improves with age and develops greater nuance. Serve at 14–16°C and allow it to breathe for a while before serving.
