The Akra Giorgia is a surprising and unconventional white wine from Akra Vini di Calabria, made from 100% Moscato and vinified in a unique, dry style. The grapes are harvested by hand in August from the deep, matured brown-red soils of the Tenuta Santa Venere, after which the wine is fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks and in the bottle. The dry vinification of the Moscato grape results in a surprisingly characterful and direct white wine that elegantly defies the sweet expectations associated with the variety.
In the glass, the Giorgia displays a bright, fresh colour. The nose is floral and inviting, with aromas of peach, apricot and rose petals that reflect the grape’s Mediterranean ripeness. On the palate, the wine is dry, direct and enveloping, with a juicy and savoury character and a fresh acidity that stimulates the taste buds and makes the wine an excellent accompaniment to Mediterranean cuisine.
Akra Giorgia pairs beautifully with Mediterranean salads, sushi, grilled fish, cold meats and cheeses. Its fresh and aromatic character also makes it ideal as an aperitif or with light summer dishes.
