Product description
The Pinecone is quite different from what you’d expect from the Moselle. Grandbois sources the Pinot Blanc for this wine from the gentle hills of the Rhine, in Rheinhessen, close to their home base on the Moselle. Those softer soils give this grape variety a creaminess and depth that you don’t often find on the steep Moselle slopes. It’s a wine for those seeking depth and balance, without being blown away.
The grapes ferment spontaneously and then mature for a full twelve months on the lees in a neutral 400-litre French oak cask. The oak is deliberately kept neutral so that it does not overpower the wine, whilst still imparting a soft, creamy texture and a beautifully rounded maturity. No filters, no added substances, with minimal sulphur. In the glass, Pinecone is clear and golden-yellow. The aroma is inviting: ripe yellow apple, white peach and a subtle hint of brioche from the extended yeast ageing. On the palate, the wine is deliciously creamy and full-bodied, yet balanced by a lively, fresh acidity. The finish is long and pleasant.
This is a wine for what Grandbois itself calls ‘elevated everyday cuisine’. Think of a creamy asparagus risotto, trout fillet in almond butter or pasta with a light lemon cream sauce. Serve at 10–12°C.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
