The Heart Pinot Noir Red is no ordinary wine. It is the little brother of the Pinecone Pinot Noir, but with a story all of its own. Whilst the Pinecone is a blend from several barrels, the Heart comes from a single 225-litre neutral French oak barrel, which gives it an intimate and focused character. But what really makes this wine special is the reason behind its creation. The Heart range is inspired by the journey of Philippe and Tanja’s daughter, who was born with a congenital heart defect. Her resilience and vitality are the driving force behind every bottle in this range.
The grapes come from the same steep slopes as the Pinecone – the Lieserer Schlossberg and the Noviander Klosterberg – and are hand-picked here too. The wine ferments spontaneously and matures in a single neutral French oak barrel, giving it a soft, creamy texture without any oaky influence on the flavour. No sulphites added, unfiltered and 100% vegan. In the glass, it is a clear cherry red with a fine sheen. The aroma is delicate and precise, with red forest fruits, a hint of spice and the minerality so characteristic of the Moselle’s slate soils. On the palate, it is soft yet distinct, fresh and long-lasting.
The Heart Pinot Noir is a wine for special occasions, for people who look beyond what’s in the glass. It pairs beautifully with duck with cherries, a gentle veal stew or pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil. Serve at 14–16°C and allow it to breathe for a while.
