Product description
The Romans knew how to make the most of the exceptionally fertile soil around the village of San Paolo, as well as the light and the mountain breezes that characterise this spot. The Luzia is a luminous, deep Pinot Noir that pays homage to the Roman villa whose ruins still rise above the Luzia vineyards. A wine with history in its soil.
The grapes grow in deep soils of limestone rubble above San Paolo, at altitudes of between 350 and 500 metres, on vines aged between 15 and 20 years. The harvest takes place in mid-September. After a cold maceration lasting several days, the wine ferments slowly at a controlled temperature in stainless steel, followed by ageing in large wooden casks and tonneaux. In the glass, the Luzia is a clear cherry red with a lovely sheen. The nose is complex and appealing: wild forest fruits, red and black berries, raspberry and cherry, with delicate floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is elegant with supple tannins and a fine, fruity-spicy, long finish.
Pairs beautifully with pasta, light meats, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C.
