Costa Fabrica is Cantina Ongaresca’s most distinctive white wine. Comprising 70 per cent Pinot Grigio and 30 per cent Chardonnay, this blend combines the best of both worlds: the fresh minerality of Pinot Grigio and the ripe fullness of Chardonnay. The name refers to a specific plot on the estate, with a unique location and soil composition.
The grapes are hand-picked into small crates weighing 5 to 15 kg at the peak of ripeness. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. In the glass, it is straw-yellow with a warm sheen. The nose is complex and aromatic: white flowers, ripe tropical fruit, a subtle minerality and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-balanced, with an elegant smoothness and a long, fresh finish.
A versatile wine that pairs excellently with hearty fish dishes, white meat, mild to medium-hard cheeses and pasta dishes with light sauces. Serve at 10–12°C.
