'Nèmore' Canavese Nebbiolo DOC

Product description

Nebbiolo is the most widespread grape variety in the Canavese region, so common that Lorenzo Francesco Gatta described it as native to Loranzè as early as 1833. Goffredo Casalis, too, in his geographical and historical dictionary of 1841, described Loranzè as the place ‘where the vineyards thrive exceptionally well and the most indigenous variety is Nebbiolo’. The variety grown here is Picotèner, characteristic of the Canavese and the lower Aosta Valley: a subalpine variety with its own distinct identity, shaped by steep slopes, terraces and a cool mountain climate. It has won gold at the Concorso Città del Vino for several years and is ranked in the Vinibuoni d’Italia Top 500.

Fratelli Marco vinifies the Nèmore with a short maceration period that keeps the tannins silky smooth. The wine is aged for 12 months, partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months of bottle ageing. This approach results in elegance and finesse as the defining characteristics – a Nebbiolo that retains its typical structure but never becomes heavy or extractive. Deep and intense in the glass. Complex and expressive on the nose. Full of character on the palate, with rounded tannins and a long, elegant finish that unmistakably reflects the subalpine terroir.

Excellent with meat dishes, stews, game and mature cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and allow it to breathe before serving.
