'Àura' Canavese Bianco DOC

Product description

‘Àura’ means ‘breath’, and that is exactly what you feel when you drink this wine. Erbaluce, the indigenous white grape variety of the Canavese region, has been cultivated on the moraine hills of Loranzè since time immemorial. As early as 1833, Lorenzo Francesco Gatta mentioned Erbaluce in his survey of the wines of the province of Ivrea and the Aosta Valley as one of the most common white grape varieties in the region. Fratelli Marco continues this centuries-old tradition of cultivation, whilst innovating the training system: low yields, Guyot pruning and optimal exposure to the unique alpine microclimate.

In the cellar, the focus is on bringing out the best in the grape variety. The grapes undergo cold maceration for 24 hours prior to fermentation, which imparts intensity and complexity. During this stage, slight oxidation contributes to the wine’s identity. After pressing, Àura matures for 6 months in stainless-steel tanks on the fine lees with weekly batonnage, followed by 6 months’ bottle ageing. In the glass, it is clear and expressive, with the characteristic fresh acidity of Erbaluce and a mineral depth that immediately reveals the glacial soils of the Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea.

A versatile white wine that pairs excellently with fish dishes, shellfish, risotto and light vegetarian dishes. Also an excellent choice as an aperitif. Serve at 10–12°C.
