Johanninger's Riesling Kies 2024 comes from vineyards around Biebelsheim in Rheinhessen, where the soil consists of a combination of loess and pebbles. This particular subsoil gives the wine its distinctive freshness and subtle minerality. Here, among the region's rolling hillsides, grow the grapes that form the basis for this lively Riesling.
From vineyard to cellar, gentle and careful treatment of the grapes is central. The grapes are processed with respect for their natural character, after which the juice ferments with the grape's own yeasts for several weeks in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for a further period on fine lie until bottling, adding balance and finesse.
