The Canalloro IGT Rosso Toscano from Fattoria Pagnana is a characterful red wine made from 100% Canaiolo, a traditional Tuscan grape variety rarely bottled in its purity. The wine is naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, where it remains on the skins for a fortnight for gentle extraction of colour and aromas. The wine is then aged for six months in the same cement tanks to retain its fresh fruit character while refining its structure.
In the glass, Canalloro has an intense ruby red colour with purple reflections. The bouquet opens with refined notes of ripe cherries, plums and peach - aromas typical of pure Canaiolo. The palate is elegant and light-footed, but with enough tannins to give nice balance and length. This wine embodies the style of Fattoria Pagnana: a successful blend of tradition, originality and contemporary drinkability.
