Domaine des Côtes Blanches' Sancerre Rouge is an elegant red wine from the Loire Valley, made from 100% Pinot Noir. The grapes come from vineyards aged between 45 and 55 years, planted on Sancerre's characteristic Kimmeridgian clay soils. These chalky clay soils give the wine a beautiful structure, refined minerality and a distinct terroir character. The vineyards are situated on sunny slopes between 240 and 290 metres above sea level, where the grapes can ripen optimally while maintaining their fresh elegance.
In the vineyard, the estate works according to organic, biodynamic and regenerative farming principles, with great attention to biodiversity and healthy soils. Pruning according to the Guyot-Poussard method, the use of natural compost and careful work in the vineyard ensure high-quality grapes. In the cellar, vinification follows with minimal intervention: the grapes are gently pressed and fermentation proceeds spontaneously with natural yeasts. No sulphur is added during vinification. The wine then ages for 12 months on the fine lie, partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in French oak barrels, adding complexity and structure.
In the glass, this Sancerre Rouge shows refined aromas of red berries, cherries and subtle spicy notes, supported by an elegant mineral undertone. The wine has a soft structure with fine tannins and a fresh, lively finish. This Pinot Noir pairs excellently with poultry, veal and light meat dishes. Its elegant and gourmet character also comes into its own with grilled vegetables, mushrooms or soft cheeses.
