The Sancerre Blanc La Marne is an exceptional single-vineyard wine from Bué, one of the most prestigious terroirs within the Sancerre appellation. This cuvée is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from old vines averaging 45 years old. The vines are planted on the famous Kimmeridgian marl soils, rich in lime and fossil deposits. These soils give the wine a distinctive depth, tension and pronounced minerality. With a very limited production of only about 2,800 numbered bottles, La Marne is a rare and characterful expression of this unique terroir.
The vineyard works according to organic, biodynamic and regenerative farming principles, with a strong focus on biodiversity and vibrant soils. Through careful vineyard management, including Guyot-Poussard pruning, natural compost and green harvesting, grapes of optimal quality are obtained. A minimalist vinification follows in the cellar: the grapes are slowly pressed with a pneumatic press and no sulphur is added during fermentation. The wine then ages for 12 months on fine lie in sandstone amphorae, adding structure, complexity and subtle texture.
In the glass, La Marne shows a refined aromatic profile with notes of citrus, ripe lime, white flowers and a distinct mineral tension. The structure is powerful but elegant, with fresh acidity and a long, chalky finish. This gourmet Sancerre pairs excellently with oysters, scallops and refined fish dishes. Its elegant and complex character also goes perfectly with dishes with goat's cheese, seafood or light Mediterranean dishes.
