La Canetana's Émile 2022 is a powerful and elegant cuvée that carries both a personal and classical inspiration. Named as a nod to Saint-Émilion as well as a grandchild, this wine combines tradition and emotion in one bottle. Sourced from old vines of around 30 years from the Regals and Ermita vineyards, it benefits from sandy loamy soils with slight stone influences that provide structure and refinement.
The blend consists of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the grapes first undergoing cold maceration after manual harvest and then vinified separately. The wine then matures for no less than 30 months in French oak barrels, giving it depth, complexity and a subtle wood integration. This long ageing takes the wine to the next level and gives it storage potential.
In the glass, Émile shows a deep ruby red colour. The nose reveals ripe red fruit with light toasted notes, while on the palate a full, warm structure emerges with plenty of ripe fruit, soft tannins and elegant cedar notes. It is a rich, layered wine that exudes both power and finesse and will continue to develop over the coming years.
