The 2024 Spätburgunder KALKSTEIN is a new addition to the portfolio of Lichti & Astroh, positioned between their estate wines and single-vineyard wines. Sourced entirely from the Dürkheimer Hochbenn, an Erste Lage site, this Pinot Noir is shaped by limestone soils that bring elegance, clarity and a distinct mineral backbone. The wine is spontaneously fermented, bottled unfiltered and aged for 15 months in used barriques, preserving its pure and authentic character.
On the palate, the wine offers a refined expression of Pinot Noir with bright red fruit, gentle spice and subtle earthy nuances. The structure is soft yet precise, lifted by fresh acidity. The influence of spontaneous fermentation and barrel ageing adds depth and complexity, while the limestone terroir imparts a clean, energetic mineral tension.
This Spätburgunder pairs beautifully with poultry, veal, grilled vegetables or mild cheeses. Its purity and elegance make it a standout terroir-driven wine, showcasing how refined and expressive Pinot Noir from limestone soils can be. A wine that will appeal to both connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
