Domaine Gilg's Muscat 2024 is a lively and aromatic white wine from Alsace, made from Muscat Ottonel. The grapes grow on argilo-limestone-rich soils around the villages of Gertwiller, Mittelbergheim and Andlau, where the cool climate and chalky soil make for fresh, expressive wines. The vineyards are farmed organically, with traditional soil management and natural vegetation between the rows. This approach promotes biodiversity and helps the grapes retain their pure terroir character. As with all the estate's wines, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected to ensure that only healthy and perfectly ripe bunches are processed.
In the cellar, a vinification method is chosen that brings out the full aromatic intensity of Muscat. The grapes are gently pressed as whole bunches, after which the juice is statically clarified for 24 hours. Fermentation takes place in thermally controlled stainless steel tanks at around 20 °C and lasts around 15 to 20 days. The wine is then aged for about eight months in inox, which ensures a fresh and pure style in which the aromatic character of the grape is fully preserved.
In the glass, this Muscat shows itself expressive and seductive, with an aromatic bouquet that combines fruity and floral notes. On the palate, the wine is dry, fresh and lively, with an elegant structure and a refreshing finish. Thanks to its distinct aroma and light character, this wine is particularly suitable as an accompaniment to appetisers, light fish dishes and asparagus. It is a typical Alsatian Muscat: aromatic, fresh and gastronomically versatile.
