Domaine Gilg's Crémant d'Alsace Tradition Brut 2024 is an elegant sparkling wine that has been an important calling card of the estate for over forty years. This refined crémant is composed of 40% Auxerrois, 30% Pinot Gris and 30% Riesling, a classic Alsatian assemblage that perfectly combines freshness, fruit and structure. The grapes grow on argilo-limestone-rich soils on gentle slopes around Mittelbergheim, Andlau, Barr and Gertwiller, at an altitude between 160 and 300 metres. Manual harvesting and careful selection of healthy grapes creates a quality base for this traditional sparkling wine.
The wine is produced using the méthode traditionnelle, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. A gentle pressing of whole bunches is followed by an initial fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about two to three weeks. The wine is then bottled for the second fermentation and aged on the lie for at least 12 to 24 months, which gives it a fine mousse and extra aromatic complexity. A light dosage gives the wine its balanced Brut style.
In the glass, this Crémant presents itself fresh and refined with aromas of white fruit, citrus and delicate white flowers. The mousse is lively and elegant, while the mouthfeel remains beautifully round and balanced. The finish is fresh, harmonious and slightly creamy. This versatile sparkling wine is perfect as an aperitif and pairs excellently with light starters, seafood or festive occasions where a sophisticated bubble should not be missing.
