The 2022 Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge from Domaine Le Ver Libre is a full-bodied yet well-balanced red wine from the Rhône. The blend consists of Grenache (40%), Mourvèdre (20%), Syrah (20%), Carignan (10%) and Ugni Blanc (10%). The grapes grow on clay-limestone soils and are harvested by hand into small crates. Vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts, with some of the grapes being destemmed.
The wine has an intense crimson colour. On the nose, it is fresh and fruity, with aromas of cherries, strawberries and other red fruits, complemented by subtle spicy and slightly liquorice-like notes. On the palate, it is generous and round, with fine, firm tannins and a lovely structure. The wine combines power with suppleness and has good length.
This Côtes du Rhône Villages is a versatile companion to hearty dishes. It pairs excellently with stews, game, lamb and beef, as well as with strong cheeses. The wine also has an ageing potential until around 2037.
