Product description
Back when South Tyrol was still a true red-wine region, the hilly terrain surrounding the Plötznerhof above Boymont Castle offered Pinot Bianco the perfect opportunity. The combination of limestone soil, heat-retaining porphyry boulders and cool mountain winds provides this small plot with ideal conditions for a Pinot Bianco with real depth of character – as good today as it ever was.
The vines are planted on the east-facing slopes above San Paolo on post-glacial moraine soils, at an altitude of between 550 and 650 metres. The grapes are harvested in late September and ferment slowly in large wooden casks and stainless-steel tanks, followed by ageing on the fine lees. In the glass, the Plötzner is clear and pale yellow. The aroma is delicate and nuanced: green apple, pear and white peach, with floral hints and herbal notes. On the palate, it is refreshingly fruity, full of finesse, with a briny, lingering finish that is typical of the mountainous terroir.
Pairs beautifully with an aperitif, risotto, fish or asparagus dishes. Serve at 10–12°C.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
