The 2019 Riesling Reserve trocken from Wein & Sektgut Hirschmüller is an impressive expression of old Riesling vines deeply rooted in the Muschelkalk soils of Lauffen am Neckar. The 41-year-old vines produce grapes with intensity, tension and a distinct terroir character. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and gently pressed as whole bunches to maintain maximum purity. Fermentation takes place in 500-litre tonneaux, followed by an exceptionally long 18-month maturation on the full lie, which gives the wine its striking depth, creamy texture and harmonious balance.
In the glass, this Riesling presents itself with a fruity-spicy aroma of apricot, grapefruit and lemon. On the palette, it opens with a lively, intense fruit expression elegantly supported by mineral tension and fresh acidity. The long, juicy finish leaves an exciting combination of ripe citrus, stone fruit and subtle spiciness. It is a wine with personality and structure, designed to continue to evolve and increase in complexity over the next eight to 10 years.
Its powerful yet refined style makes the 2019 Riesling Reserve an excellent partner at the table.
