The 2023 Lemberger trocken from Wein & Sektgut Hirschmüller is an expressive red wine from loess loam on Muschel limestone, a soil known for its freshness, structure and fine minerality. The grapes are grown organically and vinified for 20 days with pre-soaking and open fermentation. During this period, the must is submerged three times a day to achieve maximum aromatic extraction. After gentle pressing, the wine matures for 18 months in used 500-litre wooden barrels, giving it softness, breadth and harmonious ageing.
On the nose, this Lemberger shows a spicy and layered profile with aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, cedar and black tea. This combination of fruit and spiciness reflects the strength of the grape as well as the refinement of the cool Neckar terroir. The wood influences remain subtle, allowing the wine to retain its fresh, individual character. The balance between ripe fruit and earthy notes gives the wine an inviting and recognisable Lemberger profile.
On the tongue, the 2023 Lemberger presents itself full-bodied and supple, with ripe, juicy fruit expression and gently textured tannins. The fine spiciness remains long-lasting and contributes to a warm, elegant finish.
