This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC is an elegant and powerful red wine that reflects the true soul of Abruzzo. The grapes grow on deep, calcareous clay soils with a south to south-east exposure, at 170 metres above sea level. Thanks to the favourable terroir and careful manual harvesting in the second half of October, only the best bunches are selected. A long maceration on the skins at controlled temperature is followed by ageing on steel and wood, using small barriques of third and fourth passage. This gives the wine a nice balance of freshness, structure and refinement.
In the glass, the wine shows intense ruby red. The bouquet is intense and slightly spicy, with deep aromas that combine elegance and power. On the palate, the Montepulciano is warm and full-bodied, with a rich body, elegant structure and just-present tannins that provide tension and length. The result is a wine that is at once powerful and harmonious, ideal for those who love the authentic style of Abruzzo.
This Montepulciano is an excellent companion to roasted meats, game dishes and mature cheeses. Thanks to its spicy elegance and full body, it also goes beautifully with rich stews. Serve it preferably at 18 to 20 °C to fully experience its character.
