You buy Crémant directly from the winemaker.

Crémant is a high-quality French sparkling wine, produced outside the Champagne region but using the same traditional method. This makes Crémant an excellent and affordable alternative to Champagne.

    How is Crémant made?

Crémant is made using the méthode traditionnelle (traditional method), just like Champagne. This involves a second fermentation in the bottle, which creates fine bubbles and complex flavors.

    The production process in short:

    1. A still base wine is made first.
    2. Then sugar and yeast are added (liqueur de tirage).
    3. The wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle.
    4. After aging on the lees (at least 9 months), the sediment is removed (dégorgement).
    5. Finally, a small amount of dosage (liqueur d’expédition) is added, depending on the desired style (brut, demi-sec, etc.).

What types of Crémant are there?

France has several regions where Crémant is produced. Each has its own style and grape varieties:

    • Crémant d’Alsace – Fresh, elegant and popular in the Netherlands.
    • Crémant de Bourgogne – Slightly richer, made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
    • Crémant de Loire – Fruity and lively, often made from Chenin Blanc.
    • Crémant de Limoux – Southern French, often soft and floral.
    • Crémant du Jura – Fresh and mineral, often surprisingly complex.
    • Crémant de Bordeaux, Crémant de Savoie, etc.
