Johanninger's 2022 Spätburgunder Gutswein comes from the vineyards around Bad Kreuznach in the Nahe region. Here, the grapes grow on soils of weathered loam with a high lime content - an ideal base for elegant Burgunder wines. The landscape and soil create a wine with refinement, freshness and a clear expression of the grape.
Careful work is done in the vineyard and cellar to preserve the quality of the ripe grapes. The grapes are first destemmed and then fermented with skin contact, so that colour and aromas are best extracted from the grapes. After gentle pressing, the wine matures further in stainless steel tanks, preserving its fruity character and fresh style.
In the glass, this Spätburgunder presents itself elegant and refined. The nose opens with subtle aromas of blackberries and wild cherries, while the light tannins provide structure and balance. The result is an accessible red wine with a fresh and fruity style, which is excellent both lightly chilled and with dishes.
