Taste how Valpolicella grows fuller and more powerful. This tasting case from Cantina Sabaini contains the three classic reds of the region, two bottles of each: the supple Valpolicella Classico, the rich Ripasso Superiore and the powerful Amarone. All three are made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella from the Val d’Illasi, each in its own way. Ideal for tasting side by side, and then again with friends.
What’s in this case:
2x Valpolicella Classico DOC: An elegant, approachable red made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Supple and harmonious, with cherry, small red fruit and soft tannins. Great with pasta, grilled meat, cheese and risotto.
2x Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC: From the Monte Castello d’Illasi. Following the traditional ripasso method, the wine re-ferments on the Amarone skins and then ages 12-15 months in oak barrels. Full of fruit, with cherry, black cherry and a subtle spiciness. Great with stews, red meat and aged cheese.
2x Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG: The flagship of Valpolicella. The finest bunches from Monte Castello d’Illasi and Monte Tomelon (250-460 metres) are dried for four to five months, concentrating aromas, sugars and extracts. Powerful, complex and rich. Perfect with game, rich meat dishes and aged cheeses.
The wine comes directly from the winemakers, they send the bottles themselves.
