The Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Ried Kollmütz 2025 comes from one of Weingut Schwaiger’s top vineyards in Wösendorf in the Wachau. The vineyards are situated on hillsides and terraces on a soil of paragneiss, loam and loess, where the Wachau’s characteristic microclimate – with cool nights and warm days – imparts an exceptional freshness and minerality to the grapes. Following a careful manual harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, after which the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. With an alcohol content of 13%, the Kollmütz falls into the Federspiel category, the characterful mid-range style of the Wachau.
In the glass, the Ried Kollmütz displays a clear, pale greenish-yellow colour with silvery highlights. The nose offers a subtle spiciness of aniseed and delicate meadow herbs, with hints of white apple. On the palate, the wine is juicy and crisp, with notes of mango, a lovely acidity and a mineral, lemony character, finishing with a subtle, fruity sweetness. A versatile and expressive Grüner Veltliner with plenty of personality.
With its spicy freshness and minerality, the Ried Kollmütz pairs excellently with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus, grilled fish, seafood and light poultry dishes. It is also an ideal accompaniment to Austrian Jause and soft cheeses.
