The Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Ried Marienfeld 2025 comes from one of Weingut Schwaiger’s finest vineyards: the Ried Marienfeld in Wösendorf in the Wachau. The vineyards are situated on hillsides and terraces on a soil of paragneiss, loam and loess, shaped by the Wachau’s unique microclimate of cool nights and warm days. The grapes are selectively harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, after which they are carefully pressed and the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The result is a typical Federspiel, the mid-range category of the Wachau with an alcohol content of 12.5%.
In the glass, the Ried Marienfeld displays a clear, pale greenish-yellow colour with silvery reflections. The nose is delicate and inviting, with floral notes, white tropical fruits and a subtle hint of blossom honey. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and fresh in structure, with a pleasantly long finish and an uncomplicated, enjoyable drinking style. The wine has been awarded 90 points by Falstaff.
The Ried Marienfeld Federspiel is a versatile dining wine that pairs excellently with seafood, asparagus and white meat. It also works particularly well with light Austrian dishes, fish and poultry served with herb-infused sauces.
