Côte-Rôtie "La Cumelle" 2024 comes from a spectacular, north-facing lieu-dit with terraces of schist, among the steepest in Europe, overlooking the Rhône. The eastern exposure catches the morning sun, while the proximity of the river provides natural cooling and ventilation. On these stony soils, enriched with clay and iron oxide, grapes ripen with intense aromatic concentration and fresh tension - a Côte-Rôtie that combines power and precision.
The plots are worked by hand on the steep terraces. Vinification starts with slow, cool maceration in wooden tronconic cuves, with around 50% whole bunches, to preserve elegance and supple tannins. The wine matures for 20 months in demi-muids and 220 L barriques, allowing structure and aromas to integrate harmoniously without overpowering the terroir.
On the nose, La Cumelle seduces with notes of chocolate, smoke, cassis and blackberry. The mouth combines controlled power with a silky texture; ripe red fruit is carried by incisive freshness and finely woven tannins. A big Côte-Rôtie with depth, tension and impressive storage potential.
