Condrieu "Les Terroirs" 2024 is a pure, terroir-driven expression of Viognier, from the lieux-dits Roncharde (Condrieu) and Poncin (Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône). On steep east-exposed slopes, where limon-sandy soils on blond granite are enriched by arzelle at the bottom of the coteaux, a Condrieu with natural balance and pronounced minerality emerges. The morning sun and ventilation from the Rhone valley ensure healthy grapes with fresh tension and aromatic precision.
The vineyards are farmed organically (no label) and maintained entirely by hand on the steep terraces; mechanisation is not an option here. With low yields (30 hl/ha) and careful leafwork, the Viognier remains balanced, without hydration stress. After precise clarification, the wine matures in 220-litre barriques (used 3-6 times), with natural malolactic fermentation in spring, without bâtonnage or soutirage. Light plate filtration before bottling preserves purity and finesse.
In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of peach and rose, refreshed by a hint of menthol. The mouth is harmonious and generous, with a fresh, mineral finish that elegantly tempers the richness of Viognier. A Condrieu that combines power and precision, with already drinking pleasure and beautiful ageing potential.
