    What is Gewürztraminer?

    Gewürztraminer is a grape variety found around the Alps and the most famous is the French Alsace region. This grape is also found in Germany (Pfalz, Baden) and in Italy (Alto Adige). The name Gewürztraminer literally means spiced Traminer; and you can taste that spiciness in the wine.

    Gewürztraminer wine is known for its presence of rose petals, lychee, ginger and a bit of pepper.

    This white wine is intense and full of character. It is often off-dry, meaning it has a little sweetness, but dry styles also exist. Its powerful profile makes it a wine you won't soon forget.

    The fragrant seducer from Alsace

    Alsace is the domain of the Gewürztraminer. Here the grapes ripen well thanks to the sheltered location at the foot of the Vosges Mountains. The wines are rich, full-bodied and often slightly sweet, with notes of tropical fruit and blossom. German Gewürztraminers are a bit fresher and tighter, while Italian variants often show more minerality and elegance.

    What all Gewürztraminers have in common is their fragrant nose. Put your nose over the glass and you can smell flowers, herbs and exotic fruit. Ideal if you want to impress a wine lover - or treat yourself.

    Gewürztraminer is the wine for those who love distinct flavors. With its aromatic style and subtle sweetness, it pairs surprisingly well with Asian dishes such as Thai curries, spicy Chinese cuisine or spicy Indian tandoori.

    Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery.
    All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.

    To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.

    The following shipping costs apply:

    • 6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
    • 12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs

    You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
