Château Roquehort presents a refined dry Jurançon, from 12 hectares of terrace vineyards overlooking the Pyrenees. The vines are planted on calcareous slate and chalk, where Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng come together to full expression. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand in mid-September, after which a gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation and ageing on fine vines give the wine its freshness and complexity.
In the glass, this Jurançon Sec shows pale yellow with silver reflections. The bouquet is expressive, with notes of peach and citrus such as lemon and grapefruit. On the palate, the wine opens lively and direct, but this is immediately balanced by an elegant roundness. The result is a wine that is fresh, fruity and subtly floral, with a refined finish.
This wine is ideally suited to drinking young to fully experience its fresh character. It is delicious as an aperitif and pairs excellently with seafood such as oysters, as well as with sushi, fishy tartare, risottos, world dishes and fresh summer salads.
