Nizza DOCG “I Caranti” is crafted from Barbera grapes grown in the historic commune of Castelnuovo Calcea—an area renowned for centuries as one of the finest in Piedmont for this varietal. The terroir brings out the full structure and elegance of Barbera. Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with careful sorting before pressing.
A two-week maceration follows to extract the grape’s full polyphenolic potential. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is kept at 20 °C until malolactic fermentation is complete. In the spring, it is transferred to barriques to begin maturation, where it remains for at least 24 months. In total, “I Caranti” undergoes over 30 months of aging and is released exclusively as a RISERVA.
After three years and at least six months of bottle aging, Nizza Riserva “I Caranti” is ready to deliver depth and satisfaction. It offers intense aromas of black fruits, cocoa, leather, and spice, with a full-bodied and balanced palate. Best enjoyed with roasted red meats, game, lamb, or aged cheeses.
