Product description
The Pinot Noir ‘Buntsandstein’ is the top single-vineyard wine in Enderle & Moll’s red wine range. The name refers to the soil: Buntsandstein, a red sandstone that gives the wine its characteristic minerality, fine structure and deep, cool fruit expression. This is Pinot Noir at its very best in Baden.
Produced with significantly reduced yields and strict selection, without pumping, fining or filtration. In the glass, the Buntsandstein is clear and light pink-ruby red. The nose is slightly smoky and subtly earthy: red and very light black berries, bay leaf, mint, flowers, parsley and a hint of juniper. On the palate, it is slender and juicy, fresh and dry, with plenty of bite. The tannins are fine-grained and youthful, the flavours ethereal and spicy on the palate. Very good, lingering finish; a cool style, with a hint of cocoa and smoke, relatively high salinity and subtle paprika notes. A wine that is only at its best once it has been allowed to breathe in the glass for a while.
A wine for special occasions and special dishes. Lovely with grilled lamb, wild duck, matured savoury cheeses or a truffle risotto. Serve at 14–16°C and let it breathe.
