The 'Prioris' Primitivo Salento IGP 2013 is a wine with deep roots in the tradition of farm life in Salento. This powerful red wine reflects the essence of Masseria Cicella's production, combining history, aromas and flavours with the character of the land. Made from 100% Primitivo grapes and from an exceptional vintage, this wine symbolises craft and intensity.
The grapes are harvested by hand in early September and the wine undergoes 12-month maturation in French and American oak barriques. The result is a ruby red wine that evolves to garnet red with age. In the nose, it shows ethereal and rich, with layered aromas of cherries on alcohol, forest fruit jam, blueberries and blackcurrants, interspersed with floral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is powerful, dry and complex, with a full fruit structure and firm but well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, with notes of cocoa and liquorice.
With an impressive 18% alcohol content, 'Prioris' is a wine of stature, ideal with hearty dishes such as ragù, pork stew, tripe rolls, roasted meats and medium-aged cheeses. But even pure, on cold winter days, this wine manages to impress with its depth and warmth. A true powerhouse from the heart of Salento.
