The Lagrein is an ancient grape variety with roots dating back to the Middle Ages. It was introduced to Trentino from the neighbouring province of Bolzano, where Benedictine monks cultivated and vinified it as early as the 17th century. In the Val di Cembra, this grape finds its ideal habitat: hilly areas with stony, well-drained soil. Here, Lagrein develops its distinct character and is among the region's most prized red wines.
This Lagrein has a deep ruby colour and an expressive aroma of ripe red fruits. The palate is dry and fresh, with an elegant structure and fine minerality typical of Cembra's terroir. Aging in stainless steel tanks and barriques adds to the wine's balance and depth, while beautifully preserving its fruity character.
Thanks to its firm, fresh profile, this Lagrein is an excellent accompaniment to traditional dishes from the mountains of Trentino. It goes perfectly with game dishes, stews, beef or bacon-rich pasta, as well as grilled aubergine or firm cheeses. Serve it at 18 °C to fully unleash all its aromas and complexity.
