Passocroce is a characterful red wine from the heart of the Cembra Valley, made from 100% Lagrein sourced from the vineyard of the same name. This steep, southeast-facing cru is located on the historic slope of Doss Caslìr, where the sandy loamy soil is rich in clay and moraine deposits from the decomposition of local porphyry rock. This unique terroir allows for natural early ripening of the grapes and gives the wine its distinct profile.
The wine is harvested manually in the last week of September. After destemming, it undergoes controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Maturation then lasts 18 months on fine lie in small 225-litre French oak barrels, followed by a further six months of bottle maturation before release.
In the glass, Passocroce shines with a deep ruby colour. The bouquet opens with aromas of blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by notes of star anise, cocoa and tobacco. As the wine ages, floral scents of violets develop, with subtle hints of lilac and sage. This is a structured and elegant red wine with a distinct mountain character - a true expression of its origins.
