Zanotelli's Pinot Nero is among the most refined yet most demanding red grape varieties. In Val di Cembra, this variety finds its ideal habitat thanks to the dry, not too rich hillside soils. The wine matures for 10 months in barriques and then rests for another six months in bottle, fully developing its elegant and velvety character.
In the glass, this Pinot Nero shows with a bright ruby colour. The aroma is invitingly fruity, with notes of ripe cherries and a hint of vanilla thanks to the ageing in wood. On the palate, the wine is dry and fresh, with a harmonious balance between juicy fruit aromas, soft tannins and a fine spiciness. The structure is silky smooth, but possesses enough depth to betray its origin from Trentino's mountainous terroir.
This wine is excellent with flavoursome red meat dishes. Think roast pork, lamb chops or game dishes. Its velvety structure and delicate acidity make it an ideal companion to autumnal stews or grilled meat platters. Serve preferably at 18 °C to fully show off all the layers of this elegant red wine.
