Château de Durette's Moulin à Vent 'Les Petits Bois' is a powerful and complex red wine from the northern part of the Beaujolais, from a 1.4-hectare plot in the prestigious cru Moulin-à-Vent. The wine is made from 100% Gamay Noir à jus blanc from 45-year-old vines, which grow on sandy granite soils with traces of manganese - a terroir that gives the wine a distinct character.
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo traditional vinification with full bunches and an eight-day maceration. The wine then matures in tanks, underlining the purity of the fruit and the typical characteristics of the cru. The result is a deep ruby red wine with aromas of iris, spice and ripe fruit. This Moulin à Vent is powerful and structured, with firm tannins and an impressive storage potential of four to six years, or even up to 10 years with good vintages.
When young, this wine shows excellently with red meat dishes, such as entrecôte or 'coq au vin'. After several years of ageing, it develops a depth that goes beautifully with game dishes. 'Les Petits Bois' is thus not only an expression of craftsmanship, but also a wine that reflects its terroir with power and finesse.
