Château de Durette's 'Colline Les Mouilles' Rouge AOC Juliénas is an elegant Cru du Beaujolais that bears its provenance proudly. This wine comes from a 1.9-hectare vineyard in the lieu-dit 'Les Mouilles', situated on a subsoil of schist, granite and a vein of clay. The 45-year-old Gamay vines are harvested by hand, carefully selected and then vinified in the traditional way with an eight-day maceration. This produces a wine that perfectly reflects the finesse of the terroir.
In the glass, this Juliénas shows with a deep ruby colour. The bouquet is pleasant and expressive, with notes of peach, ripe red fruits and a floral undertone. On the palate, the wine is structured but supple, with a lively drinkability and a refined, slightly spicy finish in which a touch of pepper comes through. Thanks to aging in cuve, the wine retains its pure and fruity character.
This wine is at its best at 15°C and is an excellent companion to refined meat dishes such as lacquered duck breast, lamb from the grill or the classic coq au vin. Also with a good French cheese board, this Cru shines as a full table companion. Storage potential is 4 to 6 years.
