'Appianum' Bianco IGP Calabria is an elegant and refined white wine, born from a blend of indigenous grape varieties growing on small, sparse sandy soils. Each plot delivers its own nuance, and together they form a harmonious whole. Vinification and ageing take place in both wood and stainless steel, ensuring a balanced combination of freshness, structure and aromatic depth. Only 1,000 to 2,000 bottles are produced annually, making this wine an exclusive find.
In the glass, the wine shows a brilliant straw yellow colour with subtle greenish reflections. The aroma opens initially subdued, but quickly develops into a captivating and complex palette. White flowers, Mediterranean spices, tea and citrus zest - from orange to bergamot and grapefruit - come together with hints of peach, chaprifolia, toasted nuts and a touch of honeyed almond. A touch of passion fruit and ripe yellow fruits completes the aromatic picture, supported by a remarkable briny minerality alluding to the terroir.
On the palate, Appianum Bianco is full and round, with a juicy texture and lively, refreshing acidity that balances everything out. The flavour experience is intense and enveloping, but remains tight and refined all the way through to the long, dry and elegant finish. A white wine with finesse as well as character, which makes you curious for every next sip.
