The 2021 Lemberger Reserve trocken is a powerful and deep red wine from loess loam soils on Muschel lime, an ideal combination for structure, freshness and aromatic concentration. The grapes first undergo pre-soaking and then a 17-day skin soaking and fermentation, after which the young wine is gently pressed. It is then aged for no less than thirty-six months in new 500-litre oak barrels. This exceptionally long barrel ageing gives the wine not only intensity and depth, but also the elegant, harmonious structure that characterises this Reserve label. The wine is bottled unfiltered to preserve its full character.
On the nose, the Lemberger Reserve shows an intensely spicy profile with aromas of blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate and fresh bay leaves. These complex aromas are carried by a subtly dark tone that immediately betrays the wine's power. On the tongue, it is full-bodied and structured, with clear, expressive spiciness and finely woven tannins. The palate is rich and layered, while the long, powerful finish highlights the depth of the grape and terroir.
The 2021 Lemberger Reserve is a wine for lovers of intensity and character. It is excellent with savoury and robust dishes such as game stew, spiced lamb rack, grilled sirloin steak or rich mushroom preparations. This wine can also shine with aged cheeses or a dark chocolate dessert. Not for nothing is this Tobias' favourite wine: it is an expressive, structured and gourmet Lemberger with striking elegance and length.
