The Schiava is a grape variety that is still widely cultivated in the Val di Cembra and strongly defines the landscape there. Although this variety must increasingly give way to nobler grape varieties, it still produces fresh, light wines with an accessible style. Thanks to the classic "pergola trentina" arrangement, which is essential for this powerful grape, a wine of remarkably higher quality is produced under the right pruning conditions. The name 'Schiava' would even refer to the way the tendrils are 'tied' to their support structure as if they were a servant.
The wine has a bright rosé colour with fruity aromas pleasantly reminiscent of fresh red fruit with a slight vinous accent. On the palate, it shows up dry, soft, fresh and elegant, with a low alcohol content that makes it particularly drinkable. This is a wine that finds its charm above all in its simplicity and suppleness.
Thanks to its lightness and freshness, this Schiava is an excellent companion to simple meals. It goes perfectly with charcuterie, poultry, pasta dishes with vegetables or light cheeses. Also ideal for summer picnics, drinks or informal moments when you don't want a heavy wine but are looking for pure drinking pleasure. Serve it lightly chilled at 14 °C.
