Ludié is a prestigious Chianti Rufina Riserva from Fattoria Lavacchio, produced only in the best vintages. The wine is made from 100% Sangiovese, from the oldest vines planted by the marchesi Strozzi in 1963 at 450 metres altitude. With an average production of just 1,500 bottles, this is an exclusive cuvée dedicated to the next generation of the estate.
After the manual harvest in mid-October, the grapes are carefully selected, followed by fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks with frequent remontages for maximum extraction. The wine then matures for 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by at least another 18 months in bottle. In the glass, Ludié shows dark ruby red, with a refined bouquet of dark cherries, chocolate, spice and a hint of tobacco.
On the palate, the wine reveals its full power and elegance, with dense, velvety tannins that are beautifully integrated. The palate is rich and complex, with a long and elegant finish in which the fresh Rufina acids provide perfect balance. This Riserva is ideal with slow-cooked meats, brasati, game and with mature cheeses and charcuterie. Serve at 18-20 °C for the ultimate experience.
